The basic principles behind a successful Schoolies Week are simple. In an article by Sean Power for Mamamia, psychologist Michael Carr Gregg has some serious advice for school leavers:
Stay with your mates
Don’t go away from your friends with someone you don’t know even ‘just for a sec.’ Be smart about who you let into your room and always stay in well lit areas.
Don’t leave your drink unattended
Don’t let other people buy you drinks and know your boundaries. Drink-spiking is a big issue on Schoolies Week. Remember, alcohol makes you less aware of danger.
Mobile, ID and money
Always have your mobile phone, some money and your ID with you at all times. Make sure you tell people where you are going.
Practice safe sex
Be discrete and use condoms if you are going to have sex. Don’t have sex in public areas, it’s not a good look.
