What is a Wise card used for?
When travelling abroad, it is important to be able to access and spend your money. As EFTPOS cards will not be accepted internationally, it can be convenient to arrange a multi-currency travel card to use for purchases overseas. The Wise card can be used to load funds onto the resort charge card that is used for purchases at our Fiji resorts.

How do I open a Wise Account?
You'll have to register and create an account with Wise. Just share your email address, create a passport, choose a personal account and share your phone number for a 2-step verification, as well as country you live in. Sign up with your legal name, date of birth and address.

Is the Wise card mandatory?
A Wise Card is not mandatory, however Unleashed has recommended this as an easy and convenient option for travellers to access and manage their funds overseas.

How do I add money to my Wise account?
You'll see different ways to add money depending on the account, currency and your region - like bank transfer or card payment.

Are there merchant fees in Fiji?
In Fiji, it is common practise for merchants to pass on card processing fees to their customers. The standard processing fee in Fiji is 3% on any card purchases. As Wise is a product of VISA, they are not exempt from the 3% merchant fee charged by the resort's bank.

Does it convert to FJD?
As Fijian Dollars (FJD) are considered an exotic currency, it is rare for travel cards to support FJD to be loaded. In this scenario, you should load your travel card with Australian Dollars (AUD) and these will automatically be converted upon a transaction in FJD. Please refer to the Wise website for any associated conversion fees.

Do I need the physical card or can I do digital?
Wise supports digital cards however Unleashed recommends ordering a physical card in addition to a digital card as not all operators in Fiji accept digital cards. Our partnership with Wise gives our travellers access to a free physical card that can be used overseas.

Can unused funds be refunded?
Yes. Funds can be transferred off the Wise card at any time via the app or website.

Why do I have to pay $30?
There is a minimum load amount of $30 when ordering your free physical card. During the sign up process, the physical card will be offered free and you will need to load the minimum amount onto your card. These funds will be used for spending while overseas.
